New York, United States (September 29, 2018) - Creative Youth Community Development Initiative (CYCDI) will launch Education for Transformation Campaign in United Kingdom on December 13, 2018 to promote Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) and 16 (Education for Peace, Justice and Security).

The project was motivated by the story of Eunice, a representation of out of school children in Africa and around the world.'

Eunice is a strong and determined 10 year old girl who craves for education at all cost! She is driven by the foresight of the prospects of a good well-rounded education could afford her in the future. She started selling vegetables to support her mother over 2 years ago, a venture she pursues rigorously in exchange for life –Education! At such a tender age of 8 years, poor Eunice has had to undertake the enterprise of selling vegetables (pepper, tomatoes, okra and onions etc) for and with her mother to help fund her education and contribute to the upkeep in the household. “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself”-John Dewey

The Founder/CEO of CYCDI, Foluke Michael was invited on September 8, 2018 as Guest Speaker on International Literacy Day by Covenant University Women Development and Human Security Initiatives (CU-WDHSI) at Oke Odan, Ogun-State, Nigeria. Her assignment was to help women and children understand the need for requisite skills to actualise United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in their local community.

In the course of teaching SDGs, she spotted Eunice at the back of the hall, a big tray of tomatoes, pepper and onions on her head, with rapt attention to the teaching that she was delivering.  She seemed so focused and eager to learn new things; SDGs in her local language! Looking into the little girl's eyes, one could decipher the hunger for a well-rounded education; and perceive a deprived little girl who would love so much to climb up the ladder of success and achievements in the academia and life. The Interview conducted with Eunice after the programme revealed her family financial predicament and her strong passion for education that could help liberate her family and future generation.

In Nigeria and all around the world, basic household poverty keeps millions of children out of schools. This is a pattern of deprivation that requires immediate attention, which has potentials to alter the actualisation on of SDGs in 2030. The lack of fundamental requirements for millions of children, especially in Africa, in some parts of the Middle East and Asia needs aggressive attention and require to be attacked as a cancer with the right & proper prescriptions that will reed our world of child poverty and slavery. Poverty is thus the biggest barrier to Education- SDG4.

The inculcation of Education is so fundamental to saving the world from extreme poverty, sickness & diseases and child labour, indeed “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”-Nelson Mandela

CYCDI’s Education for Transformation is an urgent move to save Eunice and innocent children all over the world - “One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world” - Malala Yousafzai
